A Month of Tragedies
What can be said about a month full of gun violence tragedies? It is impossible to not be horrified and shocked by an assault weapon rampage in Alabama, the deadly hostage situation in New York, and the death of 3 police officers in Pennsylvania.
And to have this wave of violence come to our state leaving 8 dead in a nursing home shooting in Carthage, NC . . . can only increase our shock.
NCGV offers our support and sympathy to the victims and their families. Yet we need to offer more than sympathy -- we need to make a promise that our state is committed to ending gun violence no matter the opposition or the difficulty.
What can be said? Because everyone knows the truth-- gun violence in an epidemic that can be prevented.
During this month of horrific violence we've also seen a wave of dangerous bills proposed. Far from working to prevent gun violence SB 782 would repeal the required permit for handguns. Worse yet the "Shoot First" bill provides almost total immunity to someone who chooses to use lethal force.
Click HERE to send a message to your elected officials letting them know we need their help to stop this madness.
Then please send this email to anyone you know asking them to demonstrate North Carolina's commitment to stopping this deadly epidemic.
Thank You For Saving Lives
