Valuing Our Communities: Working Together to End Gun Violence
In Charlotte on May 15, 2010 NCGV and the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America will host a forum on ending gun violence in our communities, entitled 'Valuing Communities: Working Together to End Gun Violence'.
The event will provide an opportunity for local residents to discuss their experiences with violence, hear from advocates who have created successful programs to prevent gun violence, and help form a plan for their neighborhood and their city. The event is open to the public and will be held from 10am to 2pm..
Being held simultaneously with the National Rifle Association's National Convention, the forum provides an alternative event for neighbors interested in building peaceful communities. The purpose of the event is to provide space for community residents concerned with violence to discuss contributing factors and to formulate a plan to address the violence. This event will not serve as a 'counter' protest, but as a reminder that we must protect our communities from the wave of violence sweeping through the country.
The forum will be held at: St Peter's Catholic Church in Church Annex underneath Fuel Pizza (507 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202)
Click here for directions. Local garage and street parking available.
Lunch will be served. Please RSVP by May 10th. You may reserve your spot several ways:
